RusHydro completes migration of financial reporting and business planning with GMCS
RusHydro has successfully completed a project to migrate its financial reporting and business planning from the IBM Cognos platform to the Russian software "Foresight. Budgeting." The project is part of the energy holding company's digitalization and import substitution program.
The software is designed to automate the planning and forecasting of financial, economic, and production indicators. Seven key information systems of the energy holding company were migrated to the new platform. These systems are responsible for generating consolidated IFRS financial statements, consolidating tax information, business plans and automating their preparation, managing investment projects and long-term forecasts, as well as monitoring bank guarantees. The entire scope of work was completed within two years.
For the project's implementation, RusHydro selected the Russian IT company GMCS Verex (GMCS, part of the MT-Integration Group) as its contractor, which has significant experience in carrying out such projects. At all stages, the specialists, together with the vendor Foresight LLC, which provided design supervision, formed a team knowledgeable in both the technology and the business processes. This saved considerable time on requirements analysis and testing.
To date, all information systems have been successfully launched into commercial operation, and IFRS reports for the first nine months of 2025 have already been prepared on the new platform. The system is used by employees of RusHydro's executive office, branches, and controlled organizations. The total number of platform users is approximately 2,000 people.
Special attention was paid in the project to training RusHydro's internal team of specialists, capable of independently maintaining and developing the system. To this end, a special training course was developed to provide in-depth training for this key group of employees.
RusHydro is consistently and extensively replacing foreign software with domestic solutions. Since 2018, 7 billion rubles have been allocated for these purposes from the overall IT budget. As a result, the company has already fully migrated 30,000 workstations to Russian operating systems, office suites, and email services. Currently, more than 20 software import substitution projects are under active development. One of the key projects is the transition from SAP to the 1C platform, which is planned for completion in 2026. Going forward, the company will focus on improving the efficiency of all its IT solutions.
