GMCS Supports the Charitable Ski Race "It's Time to Live"
On February 14, the GMCS team took part in the 4th charitable ski race organized by the Leukemia Foundation, "It's Time to Live," which was held in Larisa Lazutina Park in Odintsovo. More than 600 people — families, friends, colleagues, children, and parents — came to support adults diagnosed with blood cancer.
Skiers from various Russian cities took part in the sports event. Professionals and amateurs came to support the foundation's beneficiaries — adults with blood system diseases. The honor of GMCS was defended on the snowy track by a team of seven people, which included both enthusiastic amateur skiers and top management representatives.
Thanks to the ski race, 8 million rubles were raised. All funds collected will go toward the critical needs of the foundation's beneficiaries: the purchase of life-saving medications, payment for bone marrow transplant procedures, as well as rental housing for patients coming to the capital for treatment from other regions.
The award ceremony for the winners featured titled athletes, including three-time silver medalist of the 2014 Winter Olympics in the relay event Maxim Vylegzhanin, multiple Russian champion Ermil Vokuev, and multiple champion and prize-winner of Russian Cup stages Anastasia Vlasova.
In addition to the sports program, event guests could perform another important good deed — join the Federal Bone Marrow Donor Registry to one day give a stranger a chance at survival. Race participants also signed cards for patients currently undergoing treatment for blood cancers.
"Our company regularly supports sports events organized by the foundation. 'It's Time to Live' is not just words, but a philosophy that unites us. By stepping up to the start line alongside like-minded colleagues and hundreds of compassionate people, we strive to show that even the most serious illness is not an obstacle to the joy of life and the hope of recovery. Thank you to the foundation and to everyone who spent this day on the ski trail for your strength of spirit and kindness!" commented Iya Kuznetsova, Vice President of GMCS.
