GMCS has developed a data analytics solution based on Qlik Sense for the Wolkonsky Bakery

GMCS created a single digital solution for Wolkonsky Bakery, a French bakery chain, based on the Qlik Sense BI platform, which provides interactive data analysis and visualization of business financial and economic indicators.

The Wolkonsky Group of Companies operates 67 cafes and pastry shops in Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Voronezh) and Ukraine (Kiev), including its own cafes and the franchise system. Prior to implementing Qlik Sense, the company lacked the ability to centrally collect and analyze data in real time. GMCS was tasked with creating a single data analytics solution for the business processes of the production unit, purchasing, finance and sales department, as well as a consolidated dashboard for the project management.

Today, Wolkonsky uses Qlik Sense dashboards to analyze operating performance indicators (revenue, average bill, number of receipts, estimates of sales volumes in quantitative terms, etc.), cost price in various data sections, and also evaluate the efficiency of promotions and discounts.

The BI solution provides operational analytics on warehouse write-offs, production orders, purchases and inventory. Dashboards display the data on cost price, including analysis of transactions in the context of accounts and margins.

Using the solution, production specialists can perform analysis by volume of production, tracking top items by output and sales, as well as write-offs of item categories in the context of cost items.

“The past year has become for us, as well as for the industry as a whole, a year of serious tests and changes. Despite this, we used this period to digitize business processes. The understanding of the need to create a consolidated data analytics platform came during the transition to a single management platform. The main value of the implemented BI project is the promptness of obtaining correct data and, as a consequence, making management decisions. This increases the efficiency of operating activities and improves the financial result," said Alexander Alexandrov, CEO of Wolkonsky.

As part of the system development, GMCS will develop dashboards for the international holding “Garez & Partners”, which also includes the Wolkonsky bakery chain (the head of the holding and the founder of Wolkonsky is an investor and businessman Alexandre Rene Garese).

“Currently, we have developed 9 dashboards. The main source of data is the ERP system of Wolkonsky based on Microsoft Dynamics 365, which was implemented jointly with our company. Even in the process of implementing the ERP system, we thought out a methodology and integration with Qlik Sense for data exchange,” said Alexandra Slutskaya, Project Manager at GMCS.
