GMCS spoke at the SPIBA Logistics Group Meeting

GMCS took part in the open event of the Logistics group of the Industrial Committee of the St. Petersburg International Business Association (SPIBA) on the theme “Supply Chain Management: New Features”. The event was held on June 19 in St. Petersburg in the office of SPIBA.

Elena Ivanova, Head of SCM Department of GMCS, explained how prescriptive analytics and optimization solutions would digitize supply chain management. A great interest among the participants was caused by a project for Russian Post on the implementation of an information system for modeling regional mail logistics. GMCS implemented this project on the base of River Logic platform. The system unites regional branches of Russian Post, sorting offices, post offices, international postal exchange sites, as well as large logistic facilities such as logistic postal centers and automated sorting centers. The system implementation has made it possible to calculate the optimal way to send mail throughout Russia.

Representatives from Ahlers and Smurfit Kappa also shared their experience in supply chain management.

SPIBA is the largest business association in the North-West, uniting 135 international and Russian companies. The Logistic Group is formed within the SPIBA Industrial Committee. Its activities are aimed at sharing experience and expertise in the field of Supply Chain Management between SPIBA members and the business community in the region.
