Client description: Freight One — is Russia's largest rail transport operator. Freight One was created in July 2007, the main founder and owner of Freight One ordinary shares is JSC Russian Railways (RZD). Freight One provides a full range of freight transportation services: 24-hour dispatching service, freight expediting and monitoring in rail and multimodal transport, tariff calculation, marketing and legal support of projects.

Project Description
The distributed organizational, and as a result, the complex financial structure of Freight one required a flexible and efficient instrument of budget management. GMCS was selected to solve this task; its consultants will implement an automated system of budget planning. The system will be unwrapped based on IBM Cognos Planning and will cover 16 branches and 18 financial responsibility centers of Freight One. As part of the project the GMCS team will design a model of short-term and strategic financial planning of the enterprise. An important step will be the integration of IBM Cognos Planning with the accounting system being used at Freight One, thus ensuring quick data entry into the preliminary plan budget. One of the advantages of the new system is the fact that Freight One branches will be able to participate in the budgeting process based on uniform standards. Moreover, the system?s functional possibilities will allow Freight One to create various budget models, forecast profits, losses, control cash flow. The project was started in October 2008, the system's launch is scheduled for the beginning of the year 2009.
