Client description: Westelcom manages assets of three out of eleven International Commutation Centers (ICCs), which form Rostelecom’s international communication network, and also owns the Russian section of the international digital trunk Novorossiysk-Sochi-Poti and 9% of the capacity of the Russia-Ukraine-Bulgaria cable system.

Project Description
The project for the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics AX at Westelcom was part of the large-scale cooperation of GMCS and Rostelecom in the field of creating a unified system of managing the holding company’s assets. The main goals of the project were the optimization of the processes of financial accounting at Westelcom and providing reporting according to the unified Rostelecom group form. As part of the project GMCS consultants unified the processes of reporting preparation, developed uniform standards of accounting and classifiers for items of revenues, expenses and cash flow. Solving methodological issues allowed to successfully automate key processes of financial accounting, conduct the necessary setup of the system and its launch. The project was implemented on the basis of the new Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 version using the GMCS Telecom industry solution Westelcom’s new information system was launched into operation in July 2007.
